We are PeRiHab!

We are an independent, family owned, Vet-led Peripatetic (Mobile) Canine Rehabilitation service, operating from Yapton, in the Arun District of West Sussex.

What do we offer?

We offer a bespoke, personalised, home-based service in the following fields:

  • Canine Rehabilitation, eg after surgery and sports injuries (but not restricted to dogs only!)

    • Manual techniques, such as canine massage, trigger point release, joint mobilisations, myofascial release

    • LASER treatment (also called photo-biomodulation or PBM), using the most modern, powerful and sophisticated class IV therapeutic LASER available on the market

    • Therapeutic ultrasound

    • TENS / NMES (Trans-cutanuous electric nerve stimulation / neuro-muscular electrical stimulation) treatments

  • Pain management, both acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term)

  • Osteo-arthritis treatment and management

  • Western veterinary acupuncture

  • Western veterinary herbal medicine

We offer home visits, several days per week, on a private appointment only basis, within a large radius (with certain limitations based on location / driving distance), in West-Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.

Working on referral basis.

We work mostly on a referral basis, meaning you need a referral from your regular primary care veterinary surgeon / practice. We have an on-line facility for your vet to fill out forms / give permission to treat your pet.

We will also ask for a recent clinical history, to be fully aware of your pet’s health. Your first opinion vet will remain responsible for ongoing treatments for your pet, long-term drug prescriptions and out-of-hour care.

Integrated treatment plan.

We offer a full assessment and integrated treatment plan. This means that we often look at the animal as a whole and make a plan accordingly.

We offer a full orthopaedic, neurological and a specific rehabilitation-based examination, as well as an assessment of your companion’s health, lifestyle and environment, leading to a full clinical diagnosis (in most cases), which allows us to recommend an integrated treatment plan, as well as design a bespoke and personal Home Exercise Programme (if appropriate). Afterwards, a report will normally be produced within 24-48 hours, and follow-up appointments made if needed.

Quality.

We offer the best quality treatments in the comfort of your own home, to reduce the time, cost and stress of travelling to a vet practice, or another treatment centre.

Your pet will be more relaxed and happier to have the examinations and treatments performed at their familiar environment.

Collaboration.

We try to work closely with your primary care veterinary surgeon and see ourselves as an extension of their practice team. We have special arrangements with various local veterinary practices for any possible further investigations and examinations, which may include radiographs or CT/MRI scans, as well as advanced treatments such as surgery, stem cell treatments and joint injections, in selected cases. We can also refer you to specifically selected hydrotherapy centres, staffed by highly qualified and experienced therapists.

A flash of light.

We have recently started using a brand-new Class 4 Laser, called the K-Laser Cube Performance 30. This is the most powerful, most modern, most intelligent, quickest and deepest penetrating, yet the safest Laser machine on the market in the world today! That means that we will be able to treat even the deepest joints, like for instance the hip joints, and other deep structures in your pet, quickly and safely. Like all Cube 4 Lasers, it emits 4 different wavelengths of light, often at the same time, and has a maximum power of 30W, which means it can treat many different conditions in a very short time. It has lots of ‘pre-sets’, making its daily use easy and quick, yet all parameters are individually adjustable, making it super versatile.

Not all lasers are equal.

Beware that not all Lasers are the same! Many other Lasers have much less penetration, or biological effect, due to limitations in either their power output, or their wavelengths and frequencies used. On top of that, some ‘Lasers’ aren’t Lasers at all, but merely red-light LED machines, or simple red-light ‘pens’. These have little to no effect at all on your pet! We have intentionally invested heavily in the best possible Laser machine, so that we can guarantee a clearly demonstrable beneficial effect on your pet, our patient.

Why not contact us today to make an appointment for Laser treatment for your pet. Or ask us about it, when we visit you for an assessment or treatment.
